ILX LIGHTWAVE LDX-36070-30   Description / Specification:
ILX LIGHTWAVE LDX-36070-30 70A/160A, 30V Laser Diode Current Source

The ILX Lightwave LDX-36070-30 High Power Laser Diode Driver is a 70A and 30V current source that offers CW, QCW, and Hard Pulse Output with multiple levels of laser diode protection. The LDX-36070-30 can be operated at full scale current and voltage in CW or QCW mode saving time and reducing cost of test by eliminating multiple instruments and test set-ups. Conduct CW L-I-V testing and pulse testing of high power laser diodes all at the same test station, without moving the laser or changing the output cable. With the 36000’s there is no need for another QCW instrument, simply change operating modes from the front panel or through the GPIB interface, set up the test parameters and start testing quickly in either mode. In QCW mode, the pulse output can be generated either internally with programmable pulse width, duty cycle and frequency parameters or through an external pulse trigger, output up to 160A at 30V. In addition the LDX-36070-30 features 4-wire voltage measurement, photodiode measurement, and a trigger in and out. For automated testing applications in an R&D or production environment, remote operation is easily accomplished through the GPIB/IEEE-488 interface. Specifications. Output Current Range: 0 to 70 A. Amplified Spontaneous Emission Source (ASE)
ASE, a process where spontaneously emitted radiation (luminescence) is amplified. In lasers and particularly in high-gain erbium-doped amplifiers, amplified spontaneous emission is usually an unwanted effect. It tends to limit the gain achievable in a single stage of a fiber optic amplifier to the order of 40–50 dB.

Dynamic Range
In a transmission system, the ratio of the overload level to the noise level of the system, usually expressed in dB. Ratio of the highest to lowest detectable signal of a system, expressed in dB.

Optical Power
Optical Power is usually measured in "dBm", or decibels referenced to one miliwatt of power. while loss is a relative reading, optical power is an absolute measurement, referenced to standards. You measure absolute power to test transmitters or receivers and relative power to test loss.

Relative Wavelength Accuracy
When randomly changing the wavelength and measuring the differences between the actual and displayed wavelengths, the relative wavelength accuracy is ± half the span between the maximum and the minimum value of all differences.

Wavelength
Wavelength is a term for the color of light, usually expressed in nanometers (nm) or microns (m). In Fiber Optics the wavelenghts mostly used are in the infrared region where the light is invisible to the human eye.
